What Geode adds

The Geode project repository describes a loader and software development kit for creating and running mods. The loader is the layer that manages those additions; an individual mod supplies a particular feature. Installing one does not tell you which features the other will provide.

Geode is separate from RobTop's game and from this website. It does not replace an official game purchase. If your immediate task is simply to install or update the game, start with the official downloads and establish that the ordinary game launches correctly first.

Choose the supported platform and game edition

The project's installation page lists Windows, macOS, Android, experimental iOS and Linux through Wine. The macOS installer supports the Steam release of Geometry Dash. Do not assume it also works with the Apple App Store edition. Use the instructions for your platform and recheck the current compatibility notice before installing.

The 2.209 compatibility caveat

At this site's launch check, v5.11.2 lists fixes for 2.209 crashes and forward-compatibility text inputs, but says the release remains primarily for 2.2081. Those targeted fixes should not be read as confirmation that every feature and mod supports 2.209. Recheck the project release page before making a change.

CheckWhat must match
GameThe exact version installed on your device
LoaderA release documenting support for that game and platform
ModIts own supported loader and game versions
DependenciesAny additional requirements listed by the mod author

If one row is unclear, pause that installation and look for an explicit compatibility statement. Do not solve an uncertain match by downloading a replacement paid game from a third-party bundle.

Use a small, reversible test

  1. Protect your progress with the backup checklist.
  2. Read the current project installation instructions for your platform; avoid a guide written for a different release.
  3. Test the loader before adding multiple mods.
  4. Add one needed mod, read its description and test the task it claims to improve.
  5. If it fails, preserve the error and return to the last working configuration using the project's instructions.

Use the loader's mod-management screens to review installed additions. A mod's own release notes still matter. Keep a short list of installed additions so the next game update does not leave you guessing which component needs attention.
